Southlake, Texas-based Retina Consultants of America (RCA) announced its acquisition of Retina Group of New England, an eye care group based in eastern Connecticut. 

Retina Group of New England operates three locations in Waterford, Norwich and Guilford, Connecticut. The practice is run by Dr. Nauman Chaudhry, MD and Dr. Juner M. Colina-Biscotto, MD. It specializes in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, retinal vein occlusions and other disorders of the retina, vitreous and macula.

RCA is a physician management services organization formed by Webster Equity Partners in 2020. RCA has more than 215 physicians across more than 300 locations in 20 states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Washington.

This is RCA’s first partnership in Connecticut, and RCA now operates in 20 states. Additionally, this represents RCA’s 10th acquisition of the year. The financial terms were not disclosed.

According to data captured from the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 601st Physician Medical Groups transaction of 2022, 86 of them in the eye care specialty. In addition to RCA, active buyers in the space include Vision Innovation Partners, a portfolio group of Centre Partners, OCLI Vision which is backed by Spectrum Vision Partners and Blue Sea Capital and EyeCare Partners, owned by Partners Group
