BrightView Health, a Cincinnati-based outpatient addiction treatment provider, has acquired Arlington, Massachusetts-based Column Health, which operates a network of 12 community-based outpatient mental health and addiction clinics throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2016, Column Health provides mental health and substance use disorder treatment-related services, including medication-assisted treatment, psychotherapy, integrated lab testing, detoxification and medication management. It serves more than 4,000 patients in New England.

Founded in 2014, BrightView Health operates 64 locations in Ohio, Delaware, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Approximately 340 of its 1,000 employees are based in greater Cincinnati. BrightView’s substance abuse treatment programs focus on meth addiction, heroin addiction, opioid addiction as well as Suboxone and Vivitrol treatment. BrightView is backed by healthcare-focused private equity firm Shore Capital Partners.

The Column Health acquisition marks BrightView Health’s second acquisition of the year. In February, the company acquired New Leaf Center, a substance use disorder treatment center based in Murphy, North Carolina, for an undisclosed price.

According to the LevinPro HC database, this is the 64th Behavioral Health Care (BHC) deal of 2022, and the 25th deal in the substance use subsector. The most active acquirer in the subsector is BayMark Health, which has made four acquisitions in 2022.
