On April 26, Billed Right, a nationwide revenue cycle management (RCM) company headquartered in Longwood, Florida, announced the acquisition of Ruffe Systems, Inc. (RSI) Ruffe Systems is a Miami, Florida-based medical billing company founded in 1982 that specializes in medical billing services for hospital-based physician groups such as pathology and radiology. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, Billed Right provides leading and innovative expertise in RCM solutions and operational management for healthcare organizations of all specialties.

This deal will complement the experience Billed Right gained over the last 16 years in the medical billing industry for a multitude of medical specialties such as cardiology, primary care, internal medicine, psychiatry, urgent care, pain management and many more. The acquisition will also add a second Florida location to Billed Right’s portfolio and will allow them to continue growing their reach in the Florida medical billing market and beyond.

The deal is just one of 138 publicly announced eHealth deals of 2022 that have been announced so far, and marks the 26th transaction within the RCM subsector. According to data from Grand View Research, the United States RCM market size was valued at $126.1 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.3% from 2022 to 2030.

The largest RCM deal of the year, based on disclosed price, occurred in January, when R1 RCM, an American RCM company servicing hospitals, health systems and physician groups across the United States, acquired Cloudmed, a healthcare technology company focused on revenue intelligence and data-driven insights, for $4.1 billion, creating a scaled leader across both end-to-end RCM and technology-driven revenue intelligence.
