On March 25, MedPiper announced that it was acquiring MedWriter. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

MedPiper, based in Bengaluru, India, is a platform to help verified healthcare professionals track job alerts, industry updates, research trends and more. It boasts of a database of over 65,000 verified health care providers and it provides its services for 35 healthcare organizations.

MedWriter is an artificial intelligence writing assistant for doctors. MedWriter was designed and built by Lonere Labs, which acted as the seller in this transaction. Lonere Labs is a Bangalore-based product lab run by Abhijeet Katte. Already, more than 1,000 doctors and healthcare researchers have signed up to use MedWriter.

Nitthin Chandran, CEO and Co-Founder of MedPiper said, “It becomes more and more important for helping qualified doctors and healthcare researchers become creators and become a direct and important source of medical information for the public… MedWriter now powers our JournoMed platform, a fast-growing healthcare digital media arm and takes it to the next level.”

MedPiper will use the newly acquired product and technology to help doctors and health care providers to become creators for JournoMed. Following the acquisition, Abhijeet Katte became a part of the Founders’ Office at MedPiper, leading new product initiatives. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

This acquisition is the 10th eHealth deal of 2022, four of the being point-of-care support deals. As usual, private equity acquirers have played a large role this year as they consist of 36 of the 104 deals; Morgan Stanley Capital Partners acquired SpendMend and nThriveInc. acquired PELITAS. Neither of the prices were disclosed. The largest eHealth disclosed price for the year, so far, is R1 RCM Inc. acquiring Cloudmed for $4.1 billion. To read more information on this deal, click here.
