BrightView Health, an outpatient addiction treatment provider based in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, acquired New Leaf Center in Murphy, North Carolina. The deal marks BrightView’s first entry into North Carolina and its fifth state overall. The companies announced the transaction earlier this week. Terms were not disclosed.

New Leaf Center is a substance use disorder treatment center based in Murphy, North Carolina. Founded in 2019, New Leaf provides treatment to people experiencing alcohol and substance use disorder while addressing occurring mental health, societal and health factors.

Founded in 2014, BrightView Health operates 55 locations in Ohio, Delaware, Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina. Around 340 of its 1,000 employees are based in the Greater Cincinnati area. BrightView’s substance abuse treatment programs focus on meth addiction, heroin addiction, opioid addiction, and suboxone and vivitrol treatment. BrightView is backed by healthcare-focused private equity firm Shore Capital Partners.

The acquisition will allow New Leaf to expand its services and serve more patients struggling with the disease of addiction. According to BrightView, services will continue uninterrupted and employees will transition to the new brand. New Leaf, which has five employees, will be rebranded to BrightView in the coming months.

The New Leaf acquisition marks BrightView’s seventh acquisition since mid-2020. In July 2021 BrightView acquired Aspire Addiction Treatment, its fifth acquisition in a year at the time and its first Virginia-based company (more information can be found here). Most recently, in November 2021, BrightView expanded its Virginia presence with the purchase of Right Path Treatment Centers, based in Chesterfield County. That deal, which included five treatment centers across the state, closed in November 2021 (more information can be found here).
