Eye Health America, an eye care practice management company headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, acquired Southeast Retina Center, an ophthalmology practice.

Southeast Retina Center (SERC) is one of the go-to retina providers in Augusta Georgia, Aiken, South Carolina and throughout southeastern Georgia with a strong culture of outstanding patient care, cutting-edge innovation and clinical/surgical research. It is run by Dr. Dennis Marcus, who is an internationally recognized leader in retinal research.

Eye Health America, a portfolio company of LLR Partners, is an eye care practice management company. Its member practices offer routine eye exams, contact lenses and glasses, medical ophthalmology and surgery, including cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, pediatrics and oculoplastics.

“Welcoming such a best-in-class group aligns with our growth strategy. SERC, located just two hours from our Upstate, SC corporate office represents Eye Health America’s entrance into the state of Georgia,” said Mary Lou Parisi, co-CEO of Eye Health America. Additionally, this partnership includes an ASC and eleven locations that span southeastern Georgia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ophthalmology has already had an incredibly busy quarter, even though it’s only two weeks into the period. According to the Irving Levin Associates database, there have already been nearly 15 ophthalmology deals recorded within 2022. This is Eye Health America’s first acquisition of the year and 13th overall.
