On December 14, DispatchHealth announced that it has acquired Dynamic Mobile Imaging (DMI), a 24-hour mobile x-ray and ultrasound company servicing all of Virginia, Maryland and the Washington D.C. area. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

DispatchHealth provides on-demand acute care and an advanced level of medical care for people of all ages in the comfort of their own homes. The company works closely with payers, providers, health systems, EMS, employer groups and others to deliver care in the home to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits, hospital stays and readmissions.

Originally launched as an in-home care urgent care startup, DispatchHealth sees mobile diagnostics as an important part of its ever-expanding care delivery model. A big chunk of that model has focused on hospital-level care in the home over the past two years, with DispatchHealth landing significant partnerships with Humana Inc., Eastern Connecticut Health Network, Waterbury HEALTH and several others.

Founded in 2005, Dynamic Mobile Imaging is a provider of portable digital x-rays, ultrasounds, EKGs, holter monitors, echocardiograms and dopplers. DMI provides these services to patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living homes, correctional facilities, universities, home settings and others who are unable to be transported easily. Currently, the company operates in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Ohio, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.

Dynamic Mobile Imaging is only DispatchHealth’s second acquisition since launching in 2013. Its first purchase was Professional Portable X-Ray (PPX), another mobile imaging provider, in April earlier this year. Since then, Dispatch has expanded its mobile imaging services with PPX to 10 new markets.

The Dynamic Mobile Imaging acquisition now builds on DispatchHealth’s earlier purchase of PPX. DispatchHealth has brought together mobile imaging leaders to expand on its innovative, patient-centric in-home care platform. It’s this level of alignment that made DMI such an attractive target for DispatchHealth, which has raised more than $403 million since its launch. Additionally, the DMI acquisition positions DispatchHealth as one of the largest mobile imaging providers in the country.

For now, Dynamic Mobile Imaging will continue to operate under its current name and Debbie Berger will continue to lead the day-to-day operations as Dynamic Mobile Imaging’s CEO.
