MountainStar Healthcare, the Utah-based headquarters of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, has acquired five Utah hospitals from Steward Health Care, expanding its presence in the West.
Founded in 2006, MountainStar Healthcare is an integrated system of hospitals, physician clinics and outpatient centers that is making healthcare more accessible and convenient. MountainStar’s eight hospitals and numerous care centers serve the Wasatch Front, from Logan to Payson and beyond, with care also available throughout Salt Lake County, Weber County, Davis County and Utah County.
Steward Health Care is the largest physician-owned private for-profit health care network in the United States, attending to 2.2 million people during more than twelve million physician and hospital visits annually. The Dallas-based company operates 39 hospitals in the United States across Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and until now, Utah.
The Utah-based, Steward Health Care-owned hospitals involved in this acquisition include Davis Hospital in Layton, Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan, Jordan Valley Medical Center-West Valley Campus, Mountain Point Medical Center in Lehi and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City. The five Utah hospitals will become part of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, which includes 11 hospitals throughout Utah, Idaho and Alaska.
