Spectrum Orthopaedics Merges with Omni Orthopaedics

Spectrum Orthopaedics and Omni Orthopaedics announced on October 19 that the companies were merging to create OrthoUnited. Under the name OrthoUnited, the partnership will create a practice with 35 physicians and orthopedic surgeons who specialize in treatment of the muscular and skeletal systems. The deal is expected to close in January 2023 and terms were not disclosed. Omni Orthopaedics treats a full range of orthopedic problems and has served patients in the area since 1996. Omni Orthopaedics has two locations in Ohio and is run by 20 doctors. Spectrum Orthopaedics is a medical group practice located in North Canton, Ohio. Orthopedic Device Companies Are all the Rage in 2019

Stryker Corporation’s (NYSE: SYK) recently announced acquisition of OrthoSpace, Ltd., an Israeli based orthopedic company, for $110 million (with another $110 million in milestones), makes it tough to ignore 2019’s biggest trend in the medical device sector. Orthopedic companies, so far, have taken up nearly 40% of the medical device transactions this year. In the deal, Stryker gains OrthoSpace’s InSpace platform, a biodegradable sub-acromial spacer designed to realign the natural biomechanics of the shoulder. It expects the InSpace product will bolster its sports medicine portfolio in particular. The product has been used with 20,000 patients across 30 countries.... Read More »
