Aveanna Healthcare Calls Off Maxim Home Health Merger

The Federal Trade Commission has done it again. The agency closed its investigation into the merger of Aveanna Healthcare with Maxim Healthcare’s home health division, announced in February 2019. We’re accustomed to seeing headlines every few months saying the FTC plans to tighten scrutiny of hospital mergers and acquisitions. The anti-trust division has been active in the hospital sector, the majority of announced hospital mergers more often collapse under their own, unique conditions. Bain Capital Expands its Pediatric Home Health Platform

In less than a month, Bain Capital Private Equity has built a major pediatric home health care platform. It began on December 19,  2016, with Bain’s announcement that it was acquiring Dallas, Texas-based Epic Health Services, from Webster Capital. On January 17, 2017, the global private equity firm announced a deal for Atlanta, Georgia-based PSA Healthcare, sold by J.H. Whitney Capital Partners. Financial terms were not disclosed in either deal. J.H. Whitney acquired PSA Healthcare, then known as Pediatric Services of America, Inc., in March 2015, for an undisclosed price. PSA Healthcare Broadens its Texas Footprint

PSA Healthcare, a portfolio company of J.H. Whitney Capital Partners, and a provider of pediatric home care for children with medical complexities, just expanded its presence in Texas to 12 offices with the acquisition of two Texas-based home health care agencies. The targets are Innovations Health Services of Tyler and San Antonio, Texas and Assure Home Healthcare of San Antonio, Texas. Both provide private-duty nursing to medically fragile children and their families in Texas. The Tyler location represents a new market for PSA.
