NextGen Healthcare Inks $1.6 Billion Sale to PE Firm Thoma Bravo

Private equity group Thoma Bravo has entered into an agreement to acquire NextGen Healthcare, Inc. for approximately $1.61 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, NextGen Healthcare shareholders will receive $23.95 per share in cash.  NextGen Healthcare is an American software and services company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company develops and sells electronic health record (EHR) software and practice management systems to the healthcare industry. Goldman Sachs Exits Marathon Health Investment

After a three-year partnership, Goldman Sachs is selling Marathon Health to General Atlantic LLC. Goldman Sachs acquired the company for $30 million back in 2016. Financial terms were not disclosed for the sale. Marathon Health provides digital health solutions to providers and healthcare organizations to help with health assessment, risk identification, coaching and advocacy, including disease management for high-cost chronic conditions. Digital Health Deals Are Blooming

The eHealth sector is on a roll, and the momentum seems to be gaining every month. Deal volume in the first quarter of 2018, at 45 announced transactions, was 50% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2017. With only four deals fewer than the same quarter in 2017, the 8% dip in deal volume hardly counts as a sell-off. Deal values, which aren’t a solid measure of growth in mergers and acquisitions, were still impressive. In Q1:18, digital health transactions totalled approximately $3.9 billion, up 96% compared with the same quarter a year earlier. Ever since the rally in health care mergers and acquisitions began in 2014, we’ve been waiting for the inevitable slam-on-the-brakes quarter.
