Marlin Equity Exits AdvancedMD

Marlin Equity Partners is parting ways with AdvancedMD Software, Inc. The exit was announced on August 2, 2018, almost three years to the day that Marlin announced its acquisition of the company on August 6, 2015. Private equity firms are trading healthcare tech and services companies with abandon these days, and there’ve been several take-private deals and carve-outs announced this year. LifeScan Diabetes Deal Brings $2.1 Billion

Johnson & Johnson’s (NYSE: JNJ) selling spree continued with the divestiture of LifeScan, Inc. for $2.1 billion. LifeScan is a leader in blood glucose monitoring products, serving approximately 20 million patients globally in more than 90 countries. LifeScan markets blood glucose monitoring systems for home and hospital use under the global brand, One Touch. The OneTouch portfolio includes personal blood glucose meters, testing strips, lancets, point of care testing systems and integrated digital solutions. Medical Imaging Deals Abound

Only half way through October, we’ve seen three transactions targeting a medical imaging company in our Laboratories, MRI & Dialysis sector. That brings to 10 the number of imaging targets in 2015, out of the current total of 39 deals recorded in the sector. It began on October 1, with Konica Minolta Medical Imaging USA’s announcement that it was buying Viztek, LLC, a digital software and hardware imaging company, for an undisclosed price. Another optical giant, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation, announced its acquisition of Olea Medical SA, a French medical imaging applications company, for an undisclosed price.
